What are New Generic Top-Level Domains?  Print dit artikel

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is the body that oversees the stable and secure operations of domain registrations and IP assignment for the Internet. ICANN is in the process of expanding the offerings of top-level domain (TLD) names from a short list of .co.uk, .com, .net, .org, etc. to a much broader list of over 700 domain extensions, such as:

  • .shop
  • .photography
  • .blog
  • .football
  • .school
  • .church
  • .mail
  • .website
  • .pub
  • .reviews
  • And many more...

server24 is one of the registrars currently offering the ability to pre-reserve a domain for when the registration period opens. You can refer to the ICANN timeline for the projected schedule.

In order to see the full list of new gTLDs, visit the server24 Domain Pre-reservation Order Page. If you currently have a package with server24, you will have to enter your account and server24 Control Panel password when pre-reserving.

Pre-reservation of the new gTLDs is free and you are under no obligation to purchase a pre-registered domain once the registration period for that domain begins. Once you pre-register a domain through server24, we will keep you informed with more information as it presents itself, such as pricing and activation date of domain registration.
